Self Assessment tax returns, done properly

Your Self Assessment tax return, prepared by chartered accountants, checked before it goes to HMRC, and filed on time.

Who we help

We prepare Self Assessment returns for:

  • Sole traders and freelancers with income from their own business
  • Landlords with rental income from one property or several (see our landlord service)
  • Company directors who take salary and dividends from their own company
  • People with more than one income, such as a job plus a side business or rent
  • First-time filers who have never sent HMRC a return before

What we do for you

We ask the questions a form never will.

Before we prepare anything, our accountants go through how you earn and what you spend. Use of home, mileage, equipment, professional fees and letting costs all reduce your bill, but only if they reach the return.

We prepare and file your return.

You send us your figures and paperwork. We build the return, check it, explain what you owe and file it with HMRC once you approve it.

We tell you what to pay, and when.

You get a clear figure for your tax bill and any payments on account, with the dates they are due.

We deal with HMRC.

If HMRC writes to you about your return, we handle the reply.

We keep your records current.

If you want help through the year, we set up bookkeeping in Xero or QuickBooks so your figures are ready long before January. Our accountants are Xero Certified Advisors and QuickBooks Certified ProAdvisors.

Miss 31 January and HMRC charges an automatic £100 penalty, even if you owe no tax. After 3 months, £10 a day is added, up to £900. Further penalties follow at 6 and 12 months, and late payment carries its own penalties and interest.

Already missed a deadline?

The sooner a late return is filed, the less the penalties grow. We can prepare overdue returns, work out what you owe and help you set up payment with HMRC. Get in touch today.
