Accountants for landlords

Rental income tax returns, property tax advice and Making Tax Digital, handled by chartered accountants who work with landlords every week.

Who we help

  • Accidental landlords letting out a former home
  • Buy to let investors with one property or a portfolio
  • Joint owners splitting rental income with a partner or family member
  • Landlords who are also employed or self-employed, with more than one income on the same return

What we do for you

Rental income tax returns.

We prepare the property pages of your Self Assessment return, work out your profit and file it with HMRC. [More on Self Assessment](/services/self-assessment).

Every allowable letting expense.

Letting agent fees, repairs, insurance, ground rent, service charges, accountancy fees and more. We go through your costs so nothing is missed.

Mortgage interest and Section 24.

Landlords can no longer deduct mortgage interest as an expense. Instead you get a tax credit at the basic rate. We work out the effect on your bill, so there are no surprises.

Selling a property.

If you sell a UK residential property at a gain, Capital Gains Tax must be reported and paid within 60 days of completion. We calculate the gain and file the report on time.

Putting the past right.

If rental income was missed on earlier returns, HMRC's Let Property Campaign lets landlords come forward and disclose it. We work out what is owed, prepare the disclosure and deal with HMRC for you. Every conversation is confidential.

Making Tax Digital is coming for landlords

From April 2027, Making Tax Digital for Income Tax applies to landlords with qualifying income over £30,000. Qualifying income means your gross rents plus any self-employment income, before expenses. That catches many landlords whose profits are modest.

From April 2028, the threshold drops to £20,000.

If you are in scope, you will need digital records, compatible software and quarterly updates to HMRC. We set it all up and file the updates for you. See our Making Tax Digital service.
